Athletics

Our children have the opportunity to participate in organized sports, and compete in games against other local schools. (This is limited to those children whose grades show that they are working up to their capabilities.) Parental permission must be given before the children will be allowed to participate.

Immanuel's athletic opportunities include:

Fall:
Co-ed Soccer grades K-8
Girls' Volleyball grades 5-8
Boys' & Girls' Cross Country grades 4-8

Spring:
Boys' & Girls' Track grades 4-8

Winter:
Boys' & Girls' Basketball grades 4-8
Girls' Cheerleading/Poms grades 4-8

In addition to the above, our students have the opportunity to participate in the Manitowoc Lutheran Jr. Lancer Youth Football and Cross Country programs in the fall, the Jr. Lancer Youth Wrestling and Basketball programs in the winter, and the Jr. Lancer Baseball program in the spring/summer. Click here for more information.

Music

Our music classes in grades K-4 teach music appreciation, unison singing, rhythm studies, and introductory music theory, among other things.  These classes are taught by the individual classroom teachers.

Music classes in 5th-8th grades are taught by our 3rd & 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Ann Wilson. These classes meet in our church Music Room, and draw on and expand upon the music basics learned in the earlier grades.

Other Music Opportunities

Junior Choir
Junior Choir is currently open to 5th-8th grade students at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran School. Mrs. Ann Wilson is the director.

Junior Choir participates in worship services, music festivals, such as the Lakeshore Music Festival and local Wisconsin School Music Association festivals, and other local events.

Junior Choir currently meets for rehearsals on Friday afternoons in the Music Room from 1:15-1:45 p.m.

Manitowoc Lutheran Junior Lancer Band
Individual instrument instruction is available for children in grades 5-8 through Manitowoc Lutheran High School's (MLHS) Junior Lancer Band program. Individual lessons are held at Immanuel once a week during the school day, and are taught by Ms. Meredith Milbrath, the director of MLHS's Junior Lancer Band program, and Ms. Charis Scharf, MLHS Band Director. Our band students, as well as students from other area Lutheran grade schools, are also invited to be a member of one of two bands that meet for rehearsal on Saturday mornings at MLHS: Beginner Band and Concert Winds. These bands perform in two concerts each school year.

Individual Piano and Strings Lessons
Individual piano and violin lessons are also available during the school day at Immanuel. Two experienced piano teachers, Mrs. Ardis Haag and Mrs. Jane Lepich, and an experienced strings teacher, Mrs. Jen Knutson, offer once-a-week, 30 minute lessons for your child in one of the music rooms at our facilities. A lesson schedule for all interested students is created in consultation with the classroom teachers in order to fit well with each teacher's classroom schedule.
